How to Share the Corporate Spotlight With Employee-Generated Video

Most companies out there are organized into various positions or departments, each having its own function and serving an integral purpose to the greater success of the business. It’s like a house, composed of various pillars, beams, and other structural elements that work together to keep everything upright and intact. And if any one of those various elements fails, it jeopardizes the entire structure.

Naturally, some of these elements are more readily visible than others and are thus immediately appreciated for the purpose they serve. Everybody awes at the big, lushly painted, front porch pillars and beautiful masonry holding a nice home together, but the wooden beams hidden behind the drywall and the carpet-covered concrete are oftentimes overlooked despite being equally, if not more integral to the structure.

Back to business.

The same phenomenon occurs in a lot of business structures where certain roles and departments that are more readily apparent get all the shimmer and glory, while others work tirelessly behind the scenes only to get a fraction of the deserved attention and appreciation, internally or externally. We say we’re going to the dentist, but we’re most likely tended to by the dental hygienist overseen by the actual dentist, right? And we thank and tip the waitress for bringing us our food, but almost never the chef that made it. It can go either way. The reality is that all employees, low, high, new, tenured, at a desk or in the field, deserve appreciation for the role they play in the success of your organization.

Now we can’t always get our whole employee base together for a pizza party to celebrate field technicians or the analysts that keep the wheels moving, especially for larger, geographically spread-out organizations. But there is a way to unite and celebrate effectively at scale with little complication. The answer is employee-generated, remotely captured video and it’s already becoming a crucial element for tons of organizations looking to better their corporate communications or shed light on core employees that work behind the scenes.

Case in point: AmeriVet.

Take AmeriVet, an acquisition company that partners with and helps operate 134 different affiliate veterinarian practices across 31 states. With an operation of that size, making sure that all facets of your employer base are properly gratified is no point-and-shoot task unless, of course, you’re using employee-generated video.

AmeriVet will be the first to tell you that the hearts and souls of their clinical operations are not doctors, but veterinary technicians, and, as such, they annually celebrate National Veterinary Technician Week. But they wanted to make a splash for VetTech Week 2021 and extend their gratitude to vet techs in every corner of their vast operation in a way that was meaningful, authentic, and logistically feasible.

So, using Cinebody, AmeriVet invited their vast network of doctors, medical directors, marketing employees, executives, and beyond to share their thoughts and appreciation for and with the organization’s vet techs. Regardless of where they were, participants could film footage in-app that could then be accessed by AmeriVet’s video team in seconds so that they could piece together a piece of content that pays tribute to those working behind the scenes to keep clinics afloat and pets healthy. The result was nothing short of praiseworthy, proving that employee-generated video is a straight shot to achieving the organizational morale you desire.

A flexible strategy.

A similar video strategy has been employed by tons of other organizations in various ways. Brands like Blue Prism, S&P Global, and Axon have used employee-generated content to showcase and celebrate the roles of employees via immersive day-in-the-life videos, providing viewers with access to unique perspectives of key employees that deserve the spotlight, but just don’t get it as often as they should.

So if you’re looking to fulfill your promise as an employer to create a work environment that is rewarding and where hard work never goes unnoticed, or even if you're looking to spice up internal content, you may want to try employee-generated content. All you need are employees and a cloud production platform and all they need is a smartphone and the urge to be heard.
